It's not completely finished, but the long-awaited underpass at Villa Maria and Finfeather is officially opened.

At a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday morning, city officials commemorated the (near) completion of the grade separation which allows traffic to move unimpeded underneath the railroad tracks at Finfeather.

Bryan voters approved a $3.2 million dollar bond sale in 1984 to build the underpass. But countless delays, including a failed partnership with College Station to built a community-wide "Lo Track," kept pushing back construction.

The project finally got the green light in 2007 and work began. Once work is completely finished, motorists will be able to access Finfeather from Villa Maria once again.
