The Brazos Center in Bryan was at capacity as thousands of local residents piled in for Living Hope's Third Annual Trunk or Treat. The event was created to provide a fun and safe way for the community to celebrate Halloween.

To make the event such a success, volunteers had to begin setting up early in the morning. Set up began about 7:00 a.m. and more than 50 Living Hope volunteers spent the day building props and setting up games like a gold fish toss and a cookie walk.

But Halloween wouldn't be complete without candy and there was a lot of candy at the event. Cars were driven into the Brazos Center and their trunks were filled with candy. In fact, each trunk had at least 4,000 pieces of candy inside. That's how the event got the name Trunk or Treat.

Trunk of Treat did provide free Halloween fun, but it was also intended to help the community in a more meaningful way. Donations were accepted and profits from the concession stand will go back into local schools to assist other children in the community.

"We just hope this is a real blessing to our schools. We just wanted to do something that really would meet the needs that they actually had and we found out it was quite easy and we're very excited to be able to give back to our schools," said Heather Hendrick, Living Hope Baptist Church.
