A state prison convict from Milam County was on the loose for most of Tuesday, but a spotting at a grocery store ended his run from the law.
Authorities say 25-year-old Carlos Kidd was being transported from a prison in Brazoria County to a Galveston prison hospital Tuesday morning.
But when the van arrived in Galveston, Kidd wasn't on it. Authorities searched for him in Galveston, but got a tip from grocery store customers in Dickinson that he might be shopping there. Indeed, it was Kidd, who was arrested around 9:15 Tuesday night.
Kidd was serving a 10-year sentence for aggravated assault. He would have been eligible for parole next September.
