Warrant Out for Alleged Brenham Murderer

A month removed from Brenham's first murder since 2003, police now believe they know the shooter.

As a result, there's a warrant out for Andre Williams of Old Washington. They believe the 21-year-old is responsible for shooting and killing Alex Martin back on October 1st. He is six feet tall and weighs 170 pounds.

Martin was shot through the front door of his cousin's apartment. Reports from witnesses were conflicting, but authorities used tips from a number of other crimes around Brenham to implicate Williams.

A rash of burglaries in the county were being investigated, and several suspects had been arrested. In questioning those individuals, Williams was implicated in the Martin shooting.

Previously, Williams had been charged in a burglary at Burton High School. He was released on bond October 28.

Two arrests have already been made in this case, none having to do with the murder itself. Jason Heard and Byron Garfield were arrested on charges of tampering with physical evidence. In addition, Heard faces a charge of failing to report a felony. Both men are out on bond.

If you know the whereabouts of Williams, call Brenham Police at 337-1082.
