In an effort to acquire the remaining tracts of land needed for a new landfill, the city of College Station has filed 10 separate lawsuits of condemnation to secure 176 acres of property in Grimes County through eminent domain.

Together with Bryan, College Station has already purchased around 430 acres of the 610-acre Twin Oaks landfill site located just over the Brazos-Grimes county line. The remaining 10 parcels the city is trying to acquire range in size from 64 acres to 0.8 acres.

According to a statement released by the city of College Station, "All property at the site with clear title was purchased from willing sellers, and no property is being condemned because of an owner with clear title who is unwilling to sell."

Two meetings to discuss the condemnation are scheduled for June 30 and July 1 at the American Legion Hall in Anderson.

LG you are correct. Failed corrupt county Governments for the last 40 years put us in this mess. Some of the Low rated schools forced people out also. We have family in the area since the late 1800's It is sick seeing all the people on welfare now. Navasota running itself into the ground also hurt the County Image. I am getting use to seeing Tv and newspapers in the Houston, Bryan and conroe area talking about the corruption, arrested police officers and how many times the schools in some parts of the county have been rated substandard. It makes the County look like welfare Trash. Now people from other Counties think we are a trash dump. Still other plan to use are familey land for a super Highway. I plan to retire soon and move home. The high rate of welfare,Goverment corrpuption and poor school rating is all that makes the news also the trash dump and road now. This is how we are Judged by others. The people we elected to run the Goverment and schools with poor Results.

Trust me, Grimes will not benifit from this "land fill" I've heard first hand Grimes residents will not be able to even use it. If we do gain anything, it will NOT be worth it!!! and I'm sure Brazos is paying a pretty penny for the land but do you think we will see any of it? As of the Kings Oaks "rant", you surely dont care about your county or the people taking the ag away from us and so on, I'm sure these "ta-do" people buying up this overpriced land are really going to work cattle or start a dairy or anything that will benifit any of us, so yes it may be petty but it's true. And the last time I looked into it TMPA pays not school taxes, so yes they pretty much get a free ride.I do understand that Grimes co. "officials" approve these, but again they (the officials)are not by far the best around. People need to wake up and see that if this keeps up we the people of Grimes will be living in the BCS city limits. But so much folks in this county just sit back and do nothing.
