Brenham Murder Suspect Arrested

It's been six weeks since a barrage of bullets cut down 22-year old Brenham resident Alex Martin as he stood in a doorway. Wednesday, the man suspected of pulling the trigger was finally cornered and taken into custody.

Andre Williams of Old Washington was arrested without incident shortly after noon in the Katy area. Brenham Police Chief Jay Petrash says US Marshals and Texas Rangers have had Williams under surveillance for several days.

Petrash says he expects bond to be set in the neighborhood of $300,000.

Williams was identified as the primary suspect two weeks ago. Investigators believe he was the triggerman who fired into a Brenham apartment killing Martin back on September 30.

Petrash says other arrests could be forthcoming.

It was the first murder in Brenham since 2003.
