News Three first told you about the Caldwell woman who was carjacked at the grocery store. Sylvia Castillo's car is being held as evidence and her insurance company won't cover a rental.

However, after our story aired Thursday, Castillo got the help she needed.

Xpress Rent A Car in Bryan offered Castillo a car for a dollar a day. Then, a local woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she would cover the fee for two months.

"You don't hear of carjackings around here much and so that touched me," Dan Waskow with Xpress Rent A Car said.
She was a victim of that and then she was put in a bind because she didn't have a car anymore."

Castillo has been relying on friends for a ride and we're told she's delighted to be back on the road.

XPRESS Rent a car -That was EXCELLENT! And to the person who agreed to pay for the 2 months car rental @ $1.00 a day, what a very nice thing to do.

Under Comprehensive Coverage of the Texas Auto Policy, your vehicle is covered if it stolen a rental car of upto $20/day would be covered after a 48 hrs waiting period. The fact that it was recovered (damaged) and being held by law enforcement as evidence does not change much. If Police were holding the vehicle, then by definition, the car had not been returned to the owner so therefore the rental would still apply. Furthermore, I believe I seen something about the insurance company she had, so perhaps a time for all to have one of those "lesson learned" moments and go with a reputable company like State Farm and you would not have to go thru this. BTW.....If you don't have rental on your auto policy, RUN, dont walk to talk to your agent about adding the coverage, if needed it once a year, it would more than pay for itself.

OMG! THAT'S GREAT TO HEAR! I WOULD GET RID OF THAT CAR INSURANCE. YOU KNOW THIS SORT OF THING CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE. I'M CHECKING INTO MY INSURANCE TO SEE IF THEY'LL PAY FOR A RENTAL IN CASE OF CAR JACKING.

Today I had the good fortune to meet Dan Waskow and he helped our institute with a rental. After having some distinguished international visitors stranded, Dan and Xpress Rent a Car came to the rescue. I wish Ms. Castillo the best, and thank Dan Waskow for his compassion.

There should be a boycott of Autopartners insurnace. We don't need these kind of businesses in the area. They should be run out of town.

That's awsome! For once a positive article!!:p It's nice to know that there are still some people out there that are willing to help out those in need. It is very unfortunant that this happend to Mrs. Castillo but at least it all worked out for the best.
