A 20-year-old Bryan man is on trial for the 2011 murder of Billy Joe Menard Junior.

Travis Carroll's trial got started Tuesday at the Brazos County Courthouse.

Investigators say Carroll was with two other people at the Wild Oaks Apartment Complex in October of 2011 when Menard was shot and killed, reportedly after a conflict regarding a drug trade.

Police reports say Carroll provided guns to the two other men, but was downstairs at the time of the shooting.

In a past interview with News Three, his family claimed Carroll didn't know Menard was going to be killed.

His two co-defendants are serving prison sentences for the crime.

The trial is expected to last until at least Thursday.
