College Station teachers may be on summer break, but they might be heading back to school a bit happier.
Tuesday night, the school board will vote on a possible raise of four percent across the board for teachers and school staff, though that could be higher for many due to scheduled steps.
Over the past few months, a number of teachers have been lobbying the school board for a raise, saying they are paid less than teachers in like-sized districts.
Currently, CSISD has about a $30 million surplus to work with, though around half of that has been earmarked for future schools in the district.
The board meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. with the workshop session. The regular session starts at 7:00 p.m.
Brenham teachers are already excited, this after that district's trustees approved a three percent raise for educators there. Superintendent David Yeager says that raise will come without a tax increase to district residents.
Brenham High School also has a new principal. Associate principal Steve Skrla was promoted.

Ms. Betty Carson--what do you do for a living? If you hate teachers so much, who is supposed to teach the children? I am sure you would do so much better, right?
WOW!! Betty Carson has a lot to say! How horrible. Who are you to judge others.
Bryan teachers deserve a big raise as well. Bryan needs to realize that they jumped the gun with the new schools they built, but they should not do it at the expense of their teachers.
