BEAUMONT, Texas -- Beaumont police say pepper spray was used to control a crowd of Wal-Mart shoppers early this morning.
About 200 people lined up outside the store before its 5 am opening -- many there for a laptop computer that was on sale. Authorities said shoppers in the back of the line began pushing those in the front.
Police said when the crowd ignored warnings from an off-duty police officer, he sprayed pepper spray into the air for two seconds.
Authorities said no was arrested or hospitalized.
