Edwards, Brown, Others File for Election

A slew of local republicans and one prominent democrat are among Monday's election filings.

The democrat is District 17 Congressman Chet Edwards, who will seek a ninth term in Washington, and his second in the young B/CS-Waco district.

Among the prominent GOP candidates are state representative Fred Brown, who has spent three sessions in the Texas House.

Also, Judge Randy Sims officially filed to run for Brazos County judge once again.

Sims's counterpart on the Commissioners Court, Duane Peters, will run again for Commissioner Precinct 2.

And Marc Hamlin will seek the office of District Clerk for the county once again.

All candidates, including incumbents, have until 6 p.m., January 2 to file for office.

The primary election is March 7 and the general election is November 7.
