Authorities have released the name of the man who held Montgomery and Grimes County law enforcement at bay for hours and ultimately killed himself.
Daniel Beasley, 45 of College Station was the passenger in a truck that was stopped Tuesday on Highway 105 in Montgomery County.
While the driver, Alan Beene of Bryan was being arrested for a parole violation, Beasley sped off leading police on a chase into Grimes County.
When his engine stopped near Plantersville, the man pulled out a pistol and threatened his own life. Authorities tried for three hours to coax him out. He refeused to surrended and commited suicide.
