Remembering 'Mr. Texas A&M'

Funeral services are Tuesday for a longtime Aggie employee known by many as 'Mr. A&M.' Bob Cherry died Thursday at St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center at age 91.

During his tenure at the university, Cherry served as assistant to General Earl Rudder, secretary to the A&M Board of Regents, and lobbyist for the system.

After he retired, Cherry donated $60,000 to the Bryan ISD for a park, named in his honor, at Johnson Elementary School.

Services for Mr. Cherry will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, with gravesite services at 3 p.m. at Hill Cemetery in New Waverly, Texas.
