Spectators are invited to watch the amazing transformation as "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" builds a new home for the DeAeth Family in one week.
The "Big Reveal" is planned for Thursday afternoon, December 15th. Spectators are encouraged to make plans to be at the site early, since a large crowd is expected.
The DeAeth family from the Washington County town of Washington has been selected as the fifth family in Texas to have their home redone. The show says they were selected because of their mission to care for sick and abandoned animals.
The new home is designed by Eric Wivagg of Stylecraft Builders. "I have tried to take into consideration things they need to better care for the animals, and things that will enhance their quality of life," says Wivagg. "As a designer, you have the responsibility to put your own ego aside and do what is best for the client.”
A dog adoption day is scheduled for Tuesday, December 13 at the building site. About 10 pets, ranging from puppies to full-grown dogs will be available for adoptions to loving families. All of the animals are up to date on their immunization shots.
Parking is available at Washington on the Brazos, and shuttle buses will be running to the construction site from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
