A dozen new police officers will soon be on the streets of Bryan/College Station.
The 136th Basic Peace Officer Class of the Central Texas Police Academy held a graduation ceremony Friday at the George Bush Presidential Library Complex.

Six new recruit officers will be joining the ranks of the College Station Police Department, while six were sworn in as Bryan Police Officers.

On Monday, the officers will begin their intensive four month field training program.
They have all completed their Basic Police Academy Training at the Central Texas Police Academy at the TEEX Riverside Campus at Texas A&M University.
The Police Academy is a 4 month training program designed to teach new police officers about Texas law and police tactics.

Immediately following the academy training the officers must pass an intensive, state mandated written exam given by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education.
