Americans are trying to send out cards and packages in time for Christmas.

The Postal Service says it delivers about 20 billion packages, cards and letters between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

And on Monday that was evident at the post office here in Bryan.

“They said it was the busiest day of the year, but here we are and we're doing it together, so it’s not so bad," Tara Bullock said.

She and others flocked to the post office Monday to get out their last minute Christmas packages.

"I think we ought to have carolers here or string quartets," one Bryan Resident said. "It would be fun to have music going, and live music would be fun."

The main Bryan post office has extended hours for the last week before Christmas.

They will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. until Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve there will be special parcel pick-up only.

You can still do things last minute though. Postal workers say if you choose express mail, your packages will be delivered on Christmas.
