Navasota and Grimes County are getting an economic shot in the arm.

Wellborn Resources has announced the acquisition of the Shult/Oakwood Homes manufacturing facility in Navasota.

The facility will be refurbished and renamed SouthPoint Industrial Business Park.

SouthPoint contains more than 280,000 sq. ft. occupying 57 acres in the Navasota Industrial Park.

Kenneth Neatherlin, through his investment partnership Wellborn Resources, will open the park with two major tenants.

SouthPoint is the second major industrial facility that Neatherlin has developed in the Brazos Valley. The first facility is NorthPoint Business Park in Bryan.

The development of NorthPoint has allowed these major companies to remain in Bryan, creating hundreds of jobs and a greatly increased tax base. Neatherlin is excited that the SouthPoint development has the potential to create the same opportunities in Navasota.

Two major tenants have already expressed interest in the facility and will occupy it immediately.

The deal is projected to generate 30 to 50 jobs in the near term, with more added later.
