Walker county and Huntsville officials will soon get reimbursed from FEMA for all their efforts during hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The city provided shelter for hundreds of Katrina and Rita evacuees in September. It costs the city over $400,000 and the county $300,000.
Those prices include personnel overtime, gas and housing vouchers, food, and public safety expenses. So far FEMA has made about $10,000 in payments.
There are still several evacuees in Walker county and officials hope to help them find permanent housing and jobs by February.
