Some new information pertaining to Thursday's major accident on Highway 6. While the cause of the wreck is still under investigation, it's believed to have stemmed from the driver of an SUV failing to control speed.

Authorities say former Texas A&M football player Cody Scates was driving the SUV when the 23-year-old collided with an 18-wheeler driven by 44-year-old Rankin Williams.

Scates' wife, Maryanne, was a passenger in the SUV. She was not wearing a seat belt and suffered a fractured skull.

Cody Scates was treated for minor injuries along with the truck driver, and 18-year-old Pricilla Taylor, who's car was also involved in the four car pile-up.

So far, no charges have been filed.
