Brazos Valley Burn Bans: The following counties are under a Burn Ban: Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Leon, Madison, Milam, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Washington
Area residents are encouraged to bring Christmas trees for recycling from Noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, January 7 to College Station’s Central Park, 1000 Krenek Tap Road, and Bryan’s Haswell Park, 1140 William J. Bryan Parkway.
The two cities hold this annual event in with the 4-H Equestrian Club, Brazos Beautiful, Inc., Bryan/College Station Eagle and Texas Forest Service. For every tree brought in, participants receive a free oak seedling.
Residents who need to drop off a tree prior to Saturday can take it to the Bryan Compost Facility at 2988 Pleasant Hill Road off Sandy Point Road or the BVSWMA landfill, 7600 Rock Prairie Road. These facilities will have roll-away containers where residents can deposit trees.
Also, residents with curbside collection can leave their trees out on their regular bulky item day for collection between December 26 and January 6.
All trees turned in should have all ornaments removed prior to being dropped off.
For more information contact Ross Albrecht, Forestry Superintendent, College Station Parks and Recreation Department, at 764-3410 or Doug Thompson, City of Bryan Recycling Coordinator, at 209-5675.
