The Brazos Animal Shelter is getting a big payoff after putting forth a big effort during this year's hurricanes.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has awarded the shelter $30,000 for their service during Katrina and Rita.
Dozens of animals rescued from storm-affected parts of the Gulf Coast came to the Brazos Valley. The grant money will be used cover the costs incurred by the shelter with their extra work.
The shelter also announced half-priced adoptions until January 7. The facility was closed during the holidays, but dogs and cats continued coming in. As a result, space is short.
