Brazos County 911 is close to having a new director.
Elizabeth Godwin was offered the job Thursday, according to the district's board chairman.
Godwin comes from the Friendswood Police Department, where she serves as the Public Safety Information Services Manager. She has worked at the department since 1981. Godwin received a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
Godwin was selected from 3 finalists, which had been narrowed down from a pool of over 30, officials said.
Pending a background check, Godwin will start at Brazos County 911 in early February.
She replaces Greg Petrey, who accepted a job in Tarrant County last May.
