4-on-3 Assault Has Possible Gang Links

Bryan Police say a fight near a school today may be related to gang violence in the city.

Just before 4pm Monday, three juveniles a block from Stephen F. Austin Middle School were reportedly assaulted with a baseball bat by three juveniles and an adult. That fight was broken up by a school resource officer, but the group of suspects then fled in a vehicle.

After trying to elude patrol officers, Bryan Police stopped that vehicle, but the suspects tried to flee on foot. The three juveniles were eventually tracked down and taken in custody. The adult suspect is still at large.

The juveniles have been charged with aggravated robbery. According to police, they stole a victim's shirt, meaning the charge was not just aggravated assault.

According to police, a number of people involved in the altercation may have connections to the drive-by shooting on Beck Street a week-and-a-half ago.

BPD's investigation is underway.
