An Aggie grad student had the book thrown at him for soliciting sex from a minor.
Benjamin Owens was sentenced to five years in prison after he pled guilty to attempted coercion and enticement of a minor. The 26-year-old student used a chat room to arrange a December 2004 meeting in San Marcos with who he thought was a 13-year-old girl. Authorities had been posing as a minor online, and arrested Owens at the meeting place.
Owens will be under supervised release for seven years after his prison term and will have to register as a sex offender.
