FEMA officials in Texas gave an update on their efforts in assisting hurricane victims in a teleconference call Wednesday.
FEMA is working on helping evacuees move back to their former towns to assist in re-building efforts. The main focus now is getting the remaining evacuees out of hotels and signed up to a long term housing program.
“There are more than 11,000 hotel rooms in Texas occupied by evacuees and our goal is to make sure that each and every evacuee gets the assistance they qualify for. We want to make sure no one falls through the cracks," said Sandy Coachman with FEMA.
Project Unity says it's only aware of 1 evacuee still leaving in a hotel in Bryan/College. Many evacuees living in the Brazos Valley say they plan to stay here.
