One day after one College Station restaurant was heavily damaged by fire, another has gotten an unexpected remodeling job.
It happened Saturday night when police say the driver of a Nissan Altima passed out behind the wheel due to a medical condition and drove through the glass storefront of the Mex-N-Go restaurant.
The car struck a counter inside and ruptured a gas line.
That led to the evacuation of the convenience store next door.
The area was evacuated for about an hour until the fire department ruled no one was in any danger.
Neither the driver, nor the passenger was seriously injured.
The crash comes a day after fire severely damaged the future site of the Fish Daddy's Grille in College Station.
