Just seven minutes after the Citibank on University Drive opened, it was robbed. Two hours before that the Vaughn Construction workers began their days' work across the street from the bank. That's where workers got a bird's eye view of the morning commotion.
"We just heard the cops pulling in, and we noticed something was going on," Vaughn Construction Foreman Manuel Jaime said.
It was a scene that Jaime says he doesn't see everyday.
"Everybody stopped working and was looking over there to see what was going on," Jaime said. "We all expected to see people running out of the bank."
But Manuel and his 100 plus man crew say they never saw anything before police arrived.
Reports of the pair of robberies spread quick across town. Texas A&M sent out emergency notification messages through the Code Maroon system, which helped some Aggies breathe a sigh of relief.
"I actually was planning to come here early in the morning but I overslept, and then got a message from A&M through Code Maroon, so I'm happy I didn't come here early," Ph.D. Student Maria Aldea said.
However, word of the heist also instilled a little bit of fear in others.
"I come here all the time, so it does kind of make you like well maybe I'll kind of be a little more aware of what I'm doing and who's around me," Long-time Citibank Banker Argie Butler said.
Patrons of the bank were certainly more aware of who was around them Monday morning, but they were still going about their business as usual.
"You can not stop your life just because people do these kinds of things," A&M Student Alberto Ruiz said.
The bank was closed briefly Monday morning after the robbery but re-opened shortly after. Traffic flow remained steady going in and out of the bank after that, despite the early morning scare.

ok, the robberies did not happen 7 minutes apart. If you read the first sentence of the article, it says "Just seven minutes after the Citibank on University Drive opened, it was robbed." Read the article before you make comments about the police department.
I'm sure channel 3 will talk about this for the next month, at lease it may take the place of that boat that sunk...
