An argument between husband and wife ends with the husband behind bars.

Clyde Kahla, 33, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at a Navasota convenience store. He had driven there after arguing with his wife at their Grimes County home off FM 2. During that altercation, the wife claims Kahla threatened her with a gun.

After his arrest, authorities searched Kahla's pickup where they say they found three rifles, three handguns, marijuana and another controlled substance. He's been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful carrying of a weapon and drug possession.

God help this woman if she took him back. I believe strongly in God and she better as well-because if she accepts the drugs, loaded guns, and threats then she's going to need God to get through life. I hope there aren't children involved in this mess.

Is he out? Are they back together? Why be so defensive...

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 8, 2008 at 04:35 PM
I agree with Terri....lots of speculating, lots of gossip, lots of judging.... which is no help at all.

Posted by: Brandy Location: Bryan on Jul 8, 2008 at 02:31 PM
All drug abuse is a DEATH SENTENCE...if you are not physically actually dead, you are a dead person walking around and have no life. There is no such thing as a little harmless drug use..even marijuana will eventually lead you to the hard stuff. You are a dead person walking if you abuse drugs, whether legal (like Rush Limbaugh) or this young man, who would I'd bet was a fine person before abusing drugs. The person abusing drugs is not the real person..the drugs change you to a dead person, eventually. Stupid choice that ruins and kills. We Americans are killing ourselves and our loved ones due to drugs.

for everyone who has negative comments about situations that happen like this must not believe in God. I obviously have nothing in my life to hide. Only hope for the future that we spend more time and money eradicating drugs in Grimes County than gossiping about someone's tragedy. This should've NEVER been put in print for everyone to judge anyway. Was I out of town when God gave judging privledges to some of you people?

"Threatening someone with a gun is a crime, but where's the proof? If he had been clean of drugs, there probably would have been no arrest made." And you must consider the *possibility* that the drugs were hers and she knew he kept a hog pistol and rifle in the truck and spun a story just to get him in trouble...

Posted by: Rosie Senario Location: Grimes on Jul 8, 2008 at 08:51 AM
No where in the story does it state that he hit or assaulted his wife. Threatening someone with a gun is a crime, but where's the proof? If he had been clean of drugs, there probably would have been no arrest made. There's no excuse for threatening someone with a gun, but who knows what kind of abuse his wife's been dealing him. Ya, it does go both ways.

Can we get the people of this county to work?

Posted by: Lori Location: Grimes on Jul 7, 2008 at 09:32 PM
Any person, male or female, that takes an abuser back deserves whatever happens to them. I have no sympathy for a fool that would allow an abuser to come back to them after they are well aware of his or her abuse. The first time it happens I have all the sympathy in the world for the victim. If they take the abuser back they should be sent a bill for the police service the next time the abuser kicks their butt.

Posted by: Reality on Jul 7, 2008 at 05:39 PM
It is not our place to judge.Unless your loved one or you have been the victim or offender of the crime you are talking about , then the "reality" is that you are just speculating. But, that is what forums like this are for...to speculate on paper.

Please don't tell me she is going back to him??!!

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 7, 2008 at 02:48 PM
Working in the system it is seen way to many time that these women actually do go back to the abusers for whatever reason. It is important that she gets the help and support she needs to leave the situation. Lots of victims do not have the support they need to leave. It is harder than most people think

Posted by: LaTeDa on Jul 6, 2008 at 11:49 PM
It is sad that this happended to a guy who had so much going for him, he was quite the roper. I feel sorry for his wife, this must be so devistating and embarassing all at the same time. I am going to miss his name in the rodeo world but I hope he can get all the help he neeeds.

Ladies and gentlemen, here you have a fine example of a typical night in a Grimes county trailer park. They will probably be back together in no time, if they aren't already. People should have to have a license to reproduce.

Every human has value and worth? Well, if that's the case, I guess you think Charles Manson, Ted Bundy and the terrorist that flew the planes on September 11th have "value and worth". There is nothing I can say to reason with a person that shares your beliefs. I will leave it at that.

Posted by: lakebound on Jul 6, 2008 at 07:05 AM
alex, no evidence? 6 guns? drugs? were they planted?

Posted by: nate Location: bryan on Jul 5, 2008 at 09:36 PM
alex I can not believe that you would post such a ridiculous comment. Only two people know if he really threatend her with the gun or not. But the police have no choice not to charge him with that there were weapons in the truck along with drugs. This is the reason that we have a court system so that they can can prove if he was guilty or innocent. It sounds like he needed to go to jail anyway hes got drugs and weapons in the truck sounds like he may be a drug dealer. But i guess the police messed up there to by charging him for the weed i mean theres proably no evidence there either.

Posted by: Trash talk on Jul 5, 2008 at 03:43 PM
My mom always said talking trash about someone says alot more about you than the person you are talking about. It took me a long time to figure out what she meant. Calling another human trash is unecessary;every human has value and worth.

Keep him in jail and his wife safe! We'll all feel a little better about running around Navasota without 6 guns and drugs in the same vehicle.

Posted by: WAY TO GO Location: TEXAS on Jul 4, 2008 at 09:15 AM
IT IS GOOD THAT THIS MAN IS TAKEN OFF THE STREETS,BEFORE HE WOULD HAVE KILLED HIS WIFE ,A INNOCENT PERSON TRYING TO HELP OR EVEN TOOK HIS OWN LIFE.BECAUSE OF THE DRUGS HE MOST LIKELY WAS NOT IN A GOOD STATE OF MIND.NAVASOTA SHOULD FEEL A LITTLE SAFER.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 3, 2008 at 05:07 PM

SN you have 4- 13 times more crime in Bryan then Grimes county Look it Up. Get the facts. Texas DPS web site. FBI Crime statistics web site. Bryan is listed as the highest per capita crime in this part of the state. Do you Understand Per capita. We are getting close to having a high rate of welfare in navasota per capita also. Still not near Bryan rates

Thank you for your many comments of support. The single person who should compare my work ethic to a devastating event that happened to my family shows your total lack of professionalism and compassion.

To Ramona I can defend myself and so can alot of other women we are not all weak. men who hit women are cowards. there pond scum. Please women who are getting abused there is help please get it

Posted by: 2 seen Location: texas on Jul 3, 2008 at 09:52 AM
seen, it seems like you are missing the point. Obviously you are more interested in an easy, cheap shot than caring that a fellow woman's welfare was in jeopardy. Domestic situations arise, unfortunately, very often and I don't recall the victims' professional integrity ever coming into question before. Where is your compassion? Or perhaps just a little empathy. The abuser obviously has demons he needs to overcome, but they are HIS burden to bare.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Hunstville,TX on Jul 3, 2008 at 08:28 AM
This has nothing to do with who owns anything. That's what's wrong with people, abuse is abuse no matter who owns what. He belongs under the jail.

Posted by: Alex Location: Bryan on Jul 3, 2008 at 08:16 AM
So, can I claim a police officer threatened me with a gun and he will be arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon? I'm tired of hearing of people being charged with no evidence.

Posted by: Sn Location: Bryan on Jul 3, 2008 at 07:35 AM
Hmmmmm...seems there is crime and hood rats in towns other than Bryan...just like I have said all along, there is crime everywhere...not just in Bryan.

It is a shame what these young people do to mess up their lives. Why don't they stop and THINK before hitting a woman. We can't defend our selves and it is painful when the beatings come from someone we so deeply love. LOCK this JERK UP ! he so deserves the SLAMMER !!

Posted by: Grimes resident on Jul 2, 2008 at 10:22 PM
