A peaceful motorcycle ride through the Grimes County countryside came to an abrupt halt Wednesday afternoon when a rider collided with a deer.

Spring resident Michael Frederick was air lifted to Herman Memorial Hospital in The Woodlands. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Frederick was riding with two friends on FM 149 near Anderson when the accident occurred. He was knocked off his motorcycle, then accidentally struck by the front wheel of his friend's motorcycle.

Neither of the other two riders was injured. The deer was killed instantly.

This is too weird! The same thing happened last year in the Rockdale area. A man was knocked off his motorcycle by a deer and then he was run over by his close friend who was behind him. This happened around midnight and his friend waited with his dead friend until morning for help to come. Just too weird!

For the most part the motorcycle riders in the area are law-abiding folks who enjoy the beauty of a ride through our county. However, the crotch-rocket punks do not realize or do not care about the danger they put others in,especially in and around the ride from Montgomery to Richards. They pass the good elderly folks going in excess of 70-80 around the curves and over the hills.I know we were all young and bullet-proof once upon a time but it sure makes it difficult when trying not to curse them on the way to church.

I wish him a speedy recovery. I will pray for you. Hang in there.

WOW... how horrible that must have been! The deer along that strip of 149 are all over the place! My prayers are with the family!
