Another unsolved hotel robbery to add to the list for College Station police.

This newest robbery now marks the eighth time a hotel has been hit in the past three years.

Around 2 a.m. Thursday, police say a masked man robbed the Hampton Inn on the 300 block of Texas Avenue.

Officers said the man waved a gun at the clerk and forced them into a back room. The clerk was not hurt.

The robber took off with an unknown amount of money. He's described as a black man about 6'2" weighing 250 pounds.

If you have any information about this robbery, you're asked to call College Station police at 764-3600.

This is now the eighth hotel robbery in College Station in the past three years. This is the second time this year the Hampton Inn has been robbed.

Just last month, the Ramada Inn also on Texas Avenue was robbed. In 2007, Quality Suites and Homewood Suites were hit. In 2006, the Hawthorne Suites, Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn were robbed.

All the major hotels are in College Station. There is one major hotel in Bryan but has yet to break ground. You forget how close we are to the Houston area. You can be in Houston in an hour after a robbery. Also, these same hotels are getting hit. I would hope that they would start taking lessons on how this robber is hitting them. On a funny note, did you know that 90% of all hotel chains are own by foreignors and this number might be on the low side. Just thought you might want to know.

Johnny, I'm with you. More blood in the streets is not necessarily a bad thing as long as it is not good guy blood. Police departments are only a little more effective at preventing crime than fire departments are at preventing fires. Both departments come in after the fact and attempt to clean up the mess in most cases. Yes, on occasion there are exceptions. As we have seen in Bryan recently, in many cases the police are not even effective at protecting themselves. It is up to me to protect myself and my family. I believe the police are good people with great intentions. My comments are not intended to downgrade the police. I like the police. However, I can think of nothing that would send a message to criminals faster than to start shooting them. Shoot any time you are legally justified to do so and the crime rate will start to plummet.

Actually MORE POLICE is what we DON'T need. In fact, police depts in general are the least efficient group of folks of any organization. WHY? Because,...if you take the ratio of the total number of crimes commited to the number of those criminals who are actually caught BY THE POLICE, "THEN" charged, then brought to trial, then sentenced, then actually required to serve their FULL sentenceS, YOU WILL SEE THAT MOST POLICE DEPTS ARE OF LITTLE VALUE. I SAY, ALLOW ALL PEOPLE WITH NO CRIMINAL RECORDS TO CARRY A GUN. NOTHING IS MORE SATISFYING THAN TO HEAR ABOUT A CAR JACKER GETTING HIS HEAD BLOWN OFF DURING AN ATTEMPTED ROBBERY. YOU MAY SAY, OH MY, IF WE ALL CARRY GUNS THEN THERE WILL BE BLOOD IN THE STREETS LIKE THE OLD WEST. NOT TRUE. BACK IN THOSE DAYS, UNJUSTIFIED MURDER WAS SO RARE, THAT WHEN EVER THERE WAS A TRIAL FOR SUCH A RARE CRIME, THAT OFTEN THE WHOLE TOWN WOULD SHUT DOWN SO THE TOWNS FOLK COULD WATCH THE PROCEEDINGS.

Do people in Bryan read? I see people talking about things in Bryan from Bryan. If it bashing,it is from the people in Bryan. This Hotel is on the Bryan/CS City limits.

The Checkers was also Robbed A convenience store on Holleman Saturday. Car 54 where are you. We need some police on the weekends and night. Please put down the ticket book machine. Is this new chief doing anything? It starting to look like Bryan. It is a no brainer that this area has a HUD apartment in it. Lets look in it. Before we go to Castle Gate and Pebble Creek. A other logically way to get the police over in this area would be to report a speeder on the weekend and night time.

Give Joe Horn a Job at night it will stop.

I use to work at the holiday in on Southwest Parkway I worked there for about a year...and i was the night auditor...the most unsettling expereince...because you just dont know what can walk in those doors at any given time...espically at night scary stuff

What the hell is this new Police chief doing. The timer is on. WE HAD LOTS OF WORDS BEFORE YOU STRATED. PUT THEM INTO ACTION NOW. CITY MGR. YOU PICKED HIM ALSO. YOUR TICKET PATROL ARE NOT WORKING. NO I NEVER HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AND NO TICKETS. AM A CS CRIME VICTEM AND BUSSINESS OWNER.

Posted by: Cindy Location: Bryan on Jul 3, 2008 at 08:51 PM
Arm yourself, if you haven't already. Thugs from Hearne, Bryan and Navasota are everywhere. You could be their next victim if you don't take steps to protect yourself. The police can not possibly be everywhere all the time. Take responsibility for your safety. Buy a gun.

I, too, am sick of everything turning to Bryan Bashing. Good grief. You folks in CS need to grow up. Perhaps KBTX can start ignoring the bashing postings and print things that pertain to the article. I hope the cops catch this guy soon. If he comes to our house, he won't walk away.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 3, 2008 at 04:59 PM
CS is more worried about catching drivers that run red lights.

Posted by: Get up to speed new Chief Location: College Station on Jul 3, 2008 at 03:25 PM
Can this New Chief do something about all this? I would like to see the Crime Numbers from this year on CS. City Data.com reported 33 robbers for CS last reporting year and 100 for Bryan. I will put Money on it we are getting near the Bryan Numbers this year. This ticket thing in the day time is not working. Put some officers on nights and weekends. The time real crime is going on. Is this new PD boss going to make it. I hope he rented a house. After 3 or 4 months more with no action he will be in hot water in this city and looking for a new job. This is not Bryan and we will not put up with it for long.

Posted by: You know thugs on Jul 3, 2008 at 02:27 PM
Everyone keeps using the word "thug". In my opinion, a thug is someone who repeatedly breaks the law weather they get arrested or not.So, if you repeatedly have a drink or beer and drive....you are a thug. If you let someone drive after one drink you are just as bad. These kind of thugs are just as dangerous as the robber b/c they kill people.Criminals come from across the board and we see them every day on the roads.

Posted by: Stake Out on Jul 3, 2008 at 01:45 PM
Not a policeman, but I can help. For the next three weeks, from 8pm to 7am, have a plain clothes policeman in the front desk area.

Posted by: ashley on Jul 3, 2008 at 01:33 PM
The sad thing is our city is growing sooo fast that our police men are become scarce. Wake up people. The discipline in our city isn't cutting it and people are starting to face the consequences..

Amy I was at one of the motels about 3 years ago in Bryan on Texas ave. when it was robbed. It did not make the news. We had a large number of motels being repeatedly robbed in Bryan going back 10 years ago. We changed the way we handle money. The Employees are behind Bullet proof glass now. In CS they are not. making it easier to Rob you. Cs has not done what we did in Bryan years ago due to crime. They are paying the price thinking they are safe from crime like we had in Bryan for years. If you walked into a Bryan motel today you would not be walking out. We learned in Bryan how to take care of the slum people. Do not be surprised if he is from Bryan. Thugs have cars also. We have a very large population of people not working in Bryan living off the Government. I am not sure if the state is giving more money to people on welfare. The cost of gas any food is higher I would say we are in for a big crime ride with all the people we have on welfare in Bryan. CS with New Orleans people.

Posted by: Jeff Location: College Station on Jul 3, 2008 at 12:06 PM
Maybe our police department should focus more on the increase in crime rate, rather than invest x amount of taxpayer dollars that are being stolen and used for drug trafficking on '1984' esque Red Light Cameras. And to whoever that said that Bryan has a better control over crime than College Station: That's exactly why Bryan has earned it's reputation, by being 100% populated by law-abiding citizens.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Brenham on Jul 3, 2008 at 11:30 AM
College Station you need to look at the way Brenham took care of the Rita and Katrine people. We closed down the stores put police and fire fighters on all the exit ramps and pushed them down HWY 290. You educated liberals do not understand who does crime do you? Yes a few did get past the line but we are policing them up. We are not giving them the keys to the city like Bryan and College Station did. This hotel is on the BCS lines. It is not hard to find this person just check the welfare housing in the cities. CS has a few areas and Bryan will take some time but you will get him. The bottom line is more welfare more crime. Thugs do not like to work. I will put money on it he is in a ghetto slum area of town.

Posted by: snitch on Jul 3, 2008 at 11:29 AM
know who he is, waiting for the right moment

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Bryan on Jul 3, 2008 at 11:02 AM
The new chief in Bryan knows how to Police welfare areas of Housing. We are also buying a Armored assault Car for it. Are thugs are moving out. You people in CS are easy targets and the thugs like it that way. Buy a gun. It works in Bryan.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 3, 2008 at 10:41 AM
Can we put the day time ticket books down. Put the motorcycle Officers on at night time Also. We are getting to much of this HUD housing in Cs. Before you know it we could have 28% of the people drinking and sitting around in law chairs on welfare. Is the New chief doing anything different about the Problem.

Posted by: fed up Location: b/cs on Jul 3, 2008 at 10:38 AM
ok, I'm fed up with all the Bryan-College Station bashing. Everyday I read the comments and no matter what the subject is it always turns in to arguments about what city is better. The truth is @this point neither city is better. Our crime rate has really increased and it is mostly outsiders. Make positive comments to better your city and your neighbors.

Posted by: B Location: Texas on Jul 3, 2008 at 10:34 AM
They keep hitting CS hotels because there is more money there. Who wants to stay in a Bryan hotel? Yuk!

Posted by: Teresa Location: Bryan on Jul 3, 2008 at 10:29 AM
It's the gas prices!

Posted by: EARTH PEOPLE Location: I WAS BORN ON JUPITER on Jul 3, 2008 at 10:25 AM
I'm sick of this. Tonight I'm putting on my warrior mu-mu and posting up by some apartment complexes in the trunk of a caprice with a hole drilled in the side. I've lived here seven years and I know the crime rate is increasing. Is it vigilante justice that's needed in B/CS? The last paragraph turned me into a bald knobber, people. Look it up on wikipedia.org and THEN tell me you want to break into my car while I'm watching. I will harm you.

Posted by: Amy on Jul 3, 2008 at 09:51 AM
I worked in the hotel industry for 3 1/2 years. I am kinda glad that I don't anymore; there have been way too many robberies in college station. BTW it just goes to show that not ALL crime happens in Bryan. This is the eighth hotel to be hit in the past three years! And not one of those was in Bryan.

Posted by: Jennifer Location: Bryan on Jul 3, 2008 at 09:38 AM
Seems like the crime rate just keeps rising in Bryan/College. Our law enforcement better start getting it together!

Posted by: BRENHAM Location: BRENHAM on Jul 3, 2008 at 09:16 AM
OH YOU GUYS WERE SO WORRIED ABOUT BRENHAM PD AND THE PROBLEMS GOING ON DOWN THERE HELL LOOK AT ALL THESE ROBBERYS GOING ON AND COLLEGE STATION PD CAN'T EVEN CATCH THE PERSON BEHIND THEM.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 3, 2008 at 09:12 AM
guy must be from bryan, right? there are no thugs in cs. cs is camelot. c'mon i am ready for some humor to start off the holiday where are you bryan? cs?

Posted by: also supporter on Jul 3, 2008 at 09:07 AM
b/cs needs a midnight curfew for anyone not coming or going to work.

Posted by: Woody Location: College Station on Jul 3, 2008 at 09:00 AM
Another good excuse for Bryan to let lose on bashing good ole College Station! hahahaha You guys are pathetic. Crime is everywhere and its something that will never leave. Whether its Bryan or College Station it don't matter. I do know one thing Hurricane Katrina brought more than rain around here. All i know is I feel sorry for who ever tries to rob me. I take justice in my own hands and I will call a ambulance before the Police. Thats a fact jack.

Posted by: cop supporter Location: bryan/college station on Jul 3, 2008 at 08:33 AM
Wow, you must be one of those college students that parks in handicap parking. Maybe if CSPD wasn't always busy dealing with you dumb drunk aggies, they'd have more time on their hands.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: College Station on Jul 3, 2008 at 07:29 AM
If the police weren't out trying to increase revenue for the city by writing stupid parking tickets ath that time of the morning, and instead truly protecting and serving, maybe there woule be fewer hotel robberies.

Posted by: Sn Location: Bryan on Jul 3, 2008 at 06:09 AM
I sure hope this idiot turns out to be from College Station!...
