Crime in Bryan was down in 2005. The Unified Crime Report released Thursday shows a 2-percent drop in major crimes, but it's not all good news.
Murder in Bryan jumped from zero in 2004, to seven in 2005. While police consider zero murders an anomaly, seven homicides is more than in any of the previous four years.
Elsewhere, sexual assaults were relatively unchanged while robberies dropped by eight percent. Aggravated assaults declined 13 percent, but burglaries and auto thefts both increased.
