You could own a piece of land at a national forest or state park. The National Forest Service is selling about 300,000 acres of land to raise $800 million to pay for schools and roads in rural counties.
Huntsville's state park is on the list. 74 acres are up for sale. The land is isolated and cutoff from the main part of the park. The land will be sold at fair market value but a sales method has not yet been determined.
Parts of forests in Montgomery and San Jacinto county may also be up for sale. Contact Texas Parks and Wildlife at 1-800-792-1112 for more information.
