A vacant Madison County commissioner's seat has been filled by the late commissioner's wife.

Madison County Judge Cecil Neely appointed Mary Andrus to the position. She was sworn in earlier this week.
Her husband, Jim Andrus was killed in a car accident on February 8.

Mary will finish out the remainder of the term until a new commissioner is elected in the November election.

There are now two widows on the Madison County Commissioner's court.
Commissioner Don Farris died in January, his wife took over his spot.
