Indictment In Dog Mauling Case

The owner of six dogs that fatally mauled a 76-year-old Thorndale woman in 2005 has been indicted.

A Milam County grand jury accuses Jose Hernandez of criminally negligent homicide in the death of Lillian Stiles. Authorities say Hernandez's pit bull-rottweiler mix dogs attacked and killed Stiles as she rode a lawn mower.

In December, Jose Hernandez is charged with six counts of failure to vaccinate his dogs. That is a Class C misdemeanor.

Hernandez is currently free on 25-thousand dollars bond. If convicted, he could get up to two years in jail and a 10-thousand dollar fine.
