Brazos County's tax collector has been tapped to serve on a state board overseeing retirement plans.
Governor Rick Perry appointed Gerald "Buddy" Winn to the Texas County and District Retirement System Board of Trustees.
The retirement system is a non-profit organization that provides pension, disability and death benefits for eligible employees.
The retirement system's trustees oversee all operations, including the annual budget, policy determination, legislative proposals and investment policy.
Winn is the Brazos County tax collector and chief appraiser. Winn is a member and past president of the Tax Assessor/Collector Association and is currently serving as vice chair of the legislative committee of the Texas Association of Appraisal Districts. He is also the former vice chair and board member of the State Property Tax Board.
Winn and two others still have to be approved by the state senate.
