Throughout February News 3 has been spot lighting African Americans who are making a difference in their community. We would like introduce to Mary Robinson-Williams of Hearne.
"I have this total fascination for learning. You're not alive unless you're learning," said Mary Robinson-Williams. She has been an educator for more than 30 years. Nearly all of those years have been spent teaching in Hearne, where she was born and raised.
“If you can bring just a little bit of enthusiasm to the class, the kids can see that you're excited and they become excited because you're excited," said Robinson-Williams.
She is a familiar face throughout Robertson County. She is a member of the Chums Club, a civic organization group. The club donates school supplies, provides scholarships, and sponsors events for schools and the community.
Robinson-Williams is an active member at Old Elam Missionary Baptist Church. She's the music director and works with the youth department.
The word boring is not in Robinson-Williams's vocabulary. She tries to find the fun in everything she does.
“I’ve made it a point to always find something interesting in what ever I'm trying to get across to the children," said Robinson-Williams.
