Brazos County health officials are concerned about the threat of West Nile Virus this year since the mild winter and lack of rain has done little to slow the mosquito population.
In a meeting Thursday, the Health Department outlined the control strategy for the upcoming season, emphasizing self-protection.
Doctors say about 80% of the Bryan-College Station population may have been in contact with the West Nile Virus.
Last year, three positive human cases of West Nile Virus were reported locally. Two cases were reported in College Station and one in Bryan between September and October.
