It was a day to remember history Sunday as 23 Civil War veteran markers and three War of 1812 graves were dedicated in Robertson County.

The event took place at the Shiloh cemetary in Franklin and Civil War re-enactors brought the history alive.

The pageantry included a Mounted Horse Guard, Color Guard, Cannon, Riflemen and Bag Piper.

And visitors from all over the state came to the Brazos Valley for the event.

"It is important for us to commemorate our history and to mark the graves of our confederate ancestors for posterity and for the generations coming after us," Janice Langford of the United Daughters of the Confederacy said.

The Shiloh cemetery dates to 1840 during the Republic of Texas and has about 150 gravesites.
