A warning is issued from the Social Security office about an e-mail scam.

If you get an e-mail claiming to be from the Social Security office that says someone has stolen your social security number and is using your identity, be on alert.

The fraud e-mail also directs users to a website that looks like the social security site and asks you to confirm your identity and bank information.

If you get this e-mail, report it to the Fraud Hotline at 1-800-269-0271.
