American Airlines resumed service at Dallas Love Field Thursday. American and American Eagle are offering 16 daily flights to St. Louis, Kansas City, Austin and San Antonio.
The Fort Worth-based airline -- which has its hub at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport -- has said it expects to lose money by serving Love. But officials with the nation's largest carrier have said they made the move anyway out of fear of losing customers to Southwest Airlines, which is based at Love Field.
Southwest planned similar routes after Congress late last year cleared the way for direct flights from Love Field to St. Louis and Kansas City.
