A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for Milam, Robertson, Lee, and Leon Counties from 12am to 12pm THURSDAY. A strong cold front has reached the Brazos Valley, and will continue to push south through the early evening hours. Temperatures are expected to fall to or just above a freeze overnight. A scattered rain chance could turn into a scattered, wintry mix between 6am and 10am Thursday. Little-to-no accumulation is expected -- however, caution is urged driving on bridges and overpasses.
Brazos County volunteer fire departments spent the afternoon battling two grass fires northeast of Bryan Saturday.
The call came in about two o'clock for a grass fire on F.M. 974 between F.M. 2038 and Zweifel Road.
Precinct 2 firefighters were first sent, but precincts three and four were soon dispatched.
The owner says the fire started as a small controlled burn, but got out of hand.
The second grass fire was just north of the first location.
It actually was an active scene before the fire broke out on F.M. 974.
Authorities called in for help from the Texas Forest Service to help battle the fire on Deep Well Road.
No word on a cause.
No injuries were reported in either fire.
