It's moving day for the Brazos County Courthouse.
Moving trucks arrived Tuesday afternoon to transport files and furniture across the parking lot to the old First Baptist Church building.
The county bought the church complex in 2005 to house administrative offices.
The renovated building will be home to the county judge's office to, a new commissioners courtroom and two new justice of the peace courtrooms.
Anything to do with courts, including district courtrooms, the district attorney's office and county attorney's office will remain at the courthouse.
County officials say they'll be moving for the next three weeks.

why don't we just plow it down and start over in the same spot but of court we have to pay off the church building, sheriff building and the jail. So it looks like most of the employees will be retired before this courthouse is ever brought to standards. The other buildings were necessary because we are all out of room HOWEVER all departments should be treated equal because we all have to work together to get the job done.

Now the county needs to worry about bring their employees pay up to standards and fixing up this moldy, torn up, poor excuse for a Courthouse.

Well this is a good start. Maybe soon we can tear down this dilapidated eyesore of a courthouse and build something either physically appealing, more useful and functional, or (gasp!) both. But hey - at least we have a new Expo Center. I'm sure Brazos County can suffer through this embarrassment of a courthouse for ten or twenty more years.
