A Grimes County woman was arrested Tuesday after allegedly shooting an Iola man with whom she claimed to have had an affair.

Karrisa Davis, 29, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The man she's accused of shooting, Billy Jake Kessinger, was released Tuesday from the College Station Medical Center where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his upper leg.

According to witness accounts, Davis called Kessinger's home around 1:30 a.m. Monday. When Kessinger's wife answered, Davis told her she had slept with her husband. Davis then asked the wife to sleep with her husband to "make things right."

Monday night, Kessinger called Davis' husband and demanded he and his wife quit harassing his family. Investigators say about three hours later, Davis and her husband drove to Kessinger's home in two separate vehicles. When they arrived they called for Kessinger who walked across his yard to where they were parked. Kessinger claims Davis' husband then said,"Karrisa has something for you." That's when he said she pulled out a .38 caliber handgun and shot him.

Authorities say Davis and her husband drove away, but their vehicles were identified by witnesses. Tuesday, Kessinger identified Davis in a photo lineup as the person who pulled the trigger.

No, I have not been chased with papers, and no, my kids arent in trouble. It doesnt take a hater to see a job thats not being done.

To: Grimes Resident Location: Iola on Jul 16, 2008 at 06:07 AM---You obviously dislike the Constable for a reason. Have you been chased with civil papers or your kids in trouble. Dale does his job and that's the only reason people don't like him. That's what he gets paid to do. Is that so bad?

Posted by: Sick & tired Location: Anderson on Jul 28, 2008 at 04:52 PM
You have to do more than have knowledge someone has a gun to be a party to a crime. Also, I am sick & tired of excusing people's choices based on the fact they are poor, been abused, etc. Any person can pull themselves up by their bootstraps and make a better life for themselves. If she was a victim of spousal abuse, she made the choice to stay in that situation. Phoebe's Home is just a few miles away from Iola and they have a number of services for abused women, including a shelter. My grandmother raised 5 children with litte education, working two jobs rather than take welfare, after leaving a husband who abused her in the 1950's. Women today have much better choices than my grandmother! No excuse, get up off your behind, get an education, do something with your life! Quit relying on a man to support you!

I have never comitted a crime in my life, and the Iola constable is still a big joke. This city needs a real police officer who doesn't make excuses and hide behind the title.

So, Iola has a shooting, and kbtx can't wait to blow it up into some type of mass murder attempt! I guess all is peacefull in B/CS and there is no crime at all! It's funny that kbtx never reports any of the good news that happens in Iola. As far as our constable goes, he does a marvelous job, and I for one am glad to have him and if he runs again, he will get my vote again! The ones who don't like him, are usually the ones committing crimes and getting caught by him. Yeah Iola has some trash, but so does college station, your esteemed aggies are a bunch of drunken louts, but if their daddies are big aggie contributors, nothing ever hits the news. I got direct tv years ago, just so I wouldn't be subjected to the boring, repetitive, biased reporting of kbtx! I do hope however, that CPS will look into the living conditions that the children have been subjected to.

I sure would like a follow up on this story. Was the husband charged as well? I know a lot of people who are going to demand to know why if not.

I am not sure if this is just a bad picture or what, but this poor women looks to have been beaten herself. Did the law enforcement officials investigate this?

To "mom" The criminal element in College Station thanks you for letting us know that you and I am sure many others there leave your doors and cars unlocked. You cannot imagine how helpful this infomantion is to me and the countless others looking to make a quick, easy buck at the expense of others. Again, we thank you and we will be visiting your area soon! P.S. I apologize in advance if we do not meet face to face.

Clearly, Iola needs some city codes and restrictions. I agree with Marilissa, it looks like a slum. People dont take care of their yards, trash, furniture, and weeds everywhere. When and why did it become so trashy? I'm glad I live in the country, away from town. I hope the new mayor has a plan to clean the place up.

CDC: We have a outbreak of white trash fever in Grimes. Pull the lone star cards. Contact the Sheriff Department if they all have not been arrested.

Brazos county has made a long-term commitment to help Iola and Grimes County rebuild itself after decades of a poverty and perverts. Brazos county along with others in the Brazos valley community currently, provides resources and expertise to Iola and Grimes county in a variety of areas, including humanitarian relief and assistance,{welfare} capacity-building, security needs, counter-narcotic programs, and infrastructure projects. The Brazos valley and BCS support Iola in it efforts to establish a framework for a vibrant civil society, one that emphasizes rule of law and creates accountable and transparent forms of government. The Brazos valley and its partners remain committed to helping Grimes county realize their vision for a county that is stable, democratic, and economically successful, {no welfare} and to a County Government committed to stopping a poverty and a perverted lifestyle with woman's rights and tolerance.

Once again the welfare trash of Grimes county will have a opportunity to turn trash into cash. Thank the people of Brazos County. Iola will have money in no time.

FYI - the new landfill is closer to CS that it is to Iola. Do your research before you post such idiotic comments.

"I understand why CS is putting in a trash pit near this area. It will be like the people why are in this County." "be like the people WHY are in this County"? What in the hell are you spouting about? Take an English class before you post, Anonymous.

I understand why CS is putting in a trash pit near this area. It will be like the people why are in this County.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Iola on Jul 11, 2008 at 12:46 PM
Maybe it was really just a drug deal that went bad. Has anyone thought of that? Yes, there is trash in Iola, but then again there is alot of nice middle and higher class people as well. Drive around not all of the back woods are trashy! Again, maybe it was a drug deal that went bad. Oh and what doe Daryl Hall have to do with any of this? Is she related to him?

Posted by: Marilissa Location: Earth on Jul 11, 2008 at 06:46 AM
Have you driven through the city of Iola lately? The whole place looks like a slum.

Posted by: W Location: Iola on Jul 11, 2008 at 02:17 AM
Why not spend time posting positive comments that show support and at the very least offer factual information relating to stories? Iola, Bryan, CS, Hearne, Bedias, Navasota, and most town in the Brazos Valley and Texas share the same problems! I guess a shooting in Bryan doesn't make the headlines because they are more frequent?! I love it here and can't imagine my kids attending any other school district?!?

Posted by: Denise Location: Tomball on Jul 10, 2008 at 10:28 PM
I happen to know this family. Instead of everyone talking TRASH about them, maybe all of you need to PRAY for them. Especially for those 3 children.

I do not have all of the facts about this whole situation but I do know of Karrisa Davis. I do not believe she is completely responsible for what has happened (it takes two to tango) but she did make a very bad choice...if it was HER choice (I think that Karrisa's husband made her do it). Darrell Hall is the past...anyone who has heard of him, dealt with him, or bought from him, I'm sure, have a pretty accurate opinion of him....and I don't think I should put it into words. Further more, I live in Iola. Sure, I would love to pick the people in my community but we can't. I do live in a place where the students in school say "yes ma'am/sir" and "no ma'am/sir" (some teachers drive from out of town because of the better school atmosphere and academics), I don't have to lock my house or my car (hence the reason I will not say who exactly I am because I know that there are some 'not so perfect people in our world') and the people your pass on the roads still wave. Can you say the same?

Posted by: anonymous Location: cs on Jul 10, 2008 at 05:21 PM
Wow how do you not know Darrell Hall, look at his family thats the kind of people he rents to. And the justice system in Grimes county-if you know the constable around Iola, he tends to turn his head at what goes on-he is elected by the town, Im sure thats how they run everything in Grimes county. Very sad..............

Posted by: halley Location: iola on Jul 10, 2008 at 11:43 AM
man ya'll need to back off iola it is a great place to live and raise your kids.Just like any other town or city we have are share of white trash, and drugs. But for the most part it' s a quiet, and peaceful place to live.

Posted by: Mom Location: Iola on Jul 10, 2008 at 11:03 AM
Darrell Hall doesn't sell anything in Grimes County anymore. And I don't think the people buying and living in Kent Moore's new subdivision will take kindly to being called "White Trash". The Kessingers live in "downtown" Iola which was never land owned by Darrell Hall. As for Grimes County Sherriff, they are stretched way to thin. So this election year, VOTE. Get new commissioners in office that will give Don the money and manpower needed to do his job. And by the way, Karrisa's husband should also be in jail. They went out and celebrated at Buckshots after the fact. I think she'd have fared better shooting her husband since he's the abusive one!

Posted by: TT Location: iola, TX on Jul 10, 2008 at 09:55 AM
Where does Billy Kessinger live? I live in Iola also but never knew of this untill I read the KBTX website headlines. Not that I know ALL that goes on. Oh and Darrell Hall happens to help families buy a home who don't have excellent credit or $200,000 and a $10,000 down payment to spend! Don't expect much after the sale though. I pray for the children/victoms of this mess!

Posted by: Amy Location: Bryan on Jul 10, 2008 at 07:33 AM
Well well, it seems that Bryan isnt the only city with crime! Looks like we have some white Iola hoodrats!

Posted by: Hey Tina Location: Bryan on Jul 10, 2008 at 07:30 AM
If you don't know who Darrell Hall is then you don't belong in any discussions on Grimes county affairs. Darrell Hall is a slum lord for white people.

Posted by: yaya Location: Iola on Jul 10, 2008 at 07:04 AM
I agree, her husband knew she was going to shoot him, so......Grimes County?? Why wasn't he arrested?? If you dont want your dirty laundry aired in public, keep it clean. I agree, this would make a Jerry Springer episode.

tina, go driving in the back woods of grimes county and you will see what darrel hall is and why there is so much drugs, crime and pedophiles in grimes county. all thanks to darrel hall, be careful and dont go at dark.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 9, 2008 at 05:33 PM
yeah, i'm sure that was it......... he has the kids all to himself now that she is locked up

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 9, 2008 at 05:12 PM
maybe she did this willingly to force a law intervention so her abusive hasband would not kill her, or the kids.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Grimes County on Jul 9, 2008 at 03:37 PM
If Davis's husband called Kessinger out to the cars because "Karrisa has something for you" her husband should be in jail too, he knew she had a gun when he went there. Why hasn't he been arrested? Does the Grimes County Sheriff's Office not see his part as a crime too? As far as everyone complaining about the comments, get over it. No Iola isn't all white trash but we do have our fair share just as all other areas do. And yes normally the bad get attention long before the good is heard of. Yes it is a crying shame about the children, the parents should have thought about their children before acting like dogs in heat. I suppose we could all put away our keyboards and just go to the cafes to gossip.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 9, 2008 at 03:16 PM
I guess people of this tv station like to see peoples family members being trashed on here. The difference in this case is someone got caught. You have people in the church that do things like this but they just never get caught! I guess this tv station has nothing better to do than to let people comment on such things as this and at the same time don't think about the other innocent family members that are involved!

Concerned... their... not "thier". Maybe you should stop and think about how to spell before writing your responses. Once is a typo, three times is not a typo. On another note, yes, have sympathy for the children that have been forced into this situation. Don't defend their parent(s) that put them there. His "mistake" that he made will drastically effect everyones life. He must of been thinking with his wrong head! Yes, everyone deals with drama to some degree. Those with less realize that most drama is self-inflicted and do not put themselves or their families in those sort of situations.

Posted by: local Location: grimes on Jul 9, 2008 at 01:42 PM
I know the victim's family and know of the shooters in this case. Yes, I say shooters because this woman has been dominated by this sickco of a husband for many, many years and if you look close at her mug shot you can see that she has been beaten, no excuse but he is as guilty as her. They have 3 childern and I would be very concerned for them if I was law enforcement. As for the accused cheater, I hope he is innocent and can seperate himself and his family from these types of people. We do all make mistakes but a mistake is something you learn from and never do again not something you continue to do. As for the innocent victim's- the wife and children-You didn't cause this, don't take what these people say to heart. You are just that-victims. I think it was very cruel to print what the paper has in this case.

Posted by: anonymous Location: Iola on Jul 9, 2008 at 12:51 PM
Iola is not full of white trash any more than Bryan/College Station or anywhere else is. People everywhere make mistakes. Remember John 8:7, "When they persited in questioning Him, He straightened up and said to them, "Let the person among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."

Posted by: Elaine Location: Grimes County on Jul 9, 2008 at 12:45 PM
I have to agree. Everyone needs to stop with the comments. This man has a wife and children that attend school. I am sure they are very ashamed of what has happened. There is crime in every town you go to people. Just some are not published. So Everyone needs to back off Grimes county!

Posted by: concerned Location: grimes on Jul 9, 2008 at 12:29 PM
I just wish people would stop and think before they write responses. These people are going through enough in thier life without all the negetive remarks. Think about the family as a whole, thier kids, his wife. I hope he gets better and she goes to jail for what she has done. He made a mistake and we know EVERYBODY EVERYWHERE makes mistakes. And I am very sure we all have our own drama to deal with one way or another, Thiers just made the news.

Posted by: Christina Location: Iola on Jul 9, 2008 at 11:52 AM
Hey, Nope, this kind of AWFUL stuff happens all over, and anywhere. I guess you moved somewhere that there is NO crime? Hey, we're glad you don't live here anymore, too. It's a true shame that drugs and alcohol can take over someone's life. I feel for the children that are affected by all of this NONSENSE.

I'M VERY SORRY FOR THE VICTIMS' FAMILY. I WOULD DEFINITELY LOOK INTO THE ALLEGATIONS OF AN AFFAIR. THIS WOMAN AND HER HUSBAND ARE CRAZY. GLAD THE MAN SURVIVED THE SHOOTING. HOPEFULLY HE'S NOT GUILTY,BUT IF HE IS,I HOPE HE SEES WHAT THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOUR CAN LEAD TO. I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW HIS WIFE FEELS TODAY.HOPE THIS CRAZY WOMAN GETS PROPER PUNISHMENT. SOUNDS LIKE SHE NEEDS TO BE LOCKED AWAY. SHE IS A DANGER TO SOCIETY. AND WHAT A NUTTY HUSBAND;CAME W/HER TO SHOOT SOMEBODY INSTEAD OF TRYING TO STOP HER.IDIOT!!
