An early morning accident in College Station left one man dead and shut down a portion of Harvey Mitchell Parkway.
College Station police were called to the scene of a major accident around 2:00am near the intersection of Harvey Mitchell and Canyon Creek. There they found bystanders performing CPR on a man who had been ejected from a vehicle. Although there were no witnesses to the accident, police say the eastbound vehicle swerved off the road, and when the driver overcorrected, the vehicle then rolled and the driver was thrown.
21-year-old Oscar Vasquez of College Station was taken to the College Station Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Officers closed a portion of Harvey Mitchell while investigating the accident. The road re-opened around 6:30am. The accident remains under investigation.
