The two men charged in the shooting death of 25-year old Michael Gutierrez, of Bryan, man went before a Houston judge Monday.
Michael Gutierrez was gunned down in February while standing outside a Houston night spot. Police had little to go on, they were searching for a dark four-door vehicle which witnesses saw leaving the scene. Over the weekend two men were arrested in connection with Gutierrez's murder.
Joseph Dennis Lewis is charged with Gutierrez's murder but has yet to enter a plea. He is set to do that April 13. Lewis has an extensive criminal record, mostly drug-related charges. The second suspect, Shelton Strawder, has been charged with tampering with evidence. He will be arraigned March 21.
Monday both were seen in the 178th district court in Houston to schedule those future hearings.
