The murder trial for Patience Cooks, the College Station woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend last year, started Tuesday with opening arguments.
Patience Cooks maintains her innocence.
She was arrested last March, and charged with murdering her boyfriend when she caught him with another woman.
Tuesday her attorneys started building a case focusing on Lorenzo Allen's abusive past. The defense says Allen was on probation for assaulting his wife, and beat Cooks several times.
The prosecution maintains Cooks was full of rage.
Patience Cooks is expected to take the stand in her own defense.
