A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Madision, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, & Washington Counties until 8am Saturday morning.
The immigration bill being debated by the Senate is coming under sharp attack from House conservatives.
They criticized President Bush for supporting the provision which would give roughly eleven (m) million illegal immigrants an opportunity for US citizenship.
Supporters of that approach say the workers are vital to many industries, including agriculture.
California Congressman Dana Rohrabacher says prisoners, not illegal farmworkers, should be harvesting the nation's crops. Rohrabacher says Americans should be able to "smell the foul odor that's coming out of the US Senate."
When he was asked if the same odor is coming from the president, he said, "I have no comment."
The bill approved by the House would tighten border security and make it a crime for illegal immigrants to be in the US.
