We have received new details regarding the benefit for the Milam County man injured while trying to break up a fight.
Police say Jerry Sowders, 48, of Gause was knocked out early Sunday morning outside Rockies Nightclub at Post Oak Mall. Sowders fell and hit the back of his head on the pavement.
A benefit will be held to raise money for Jerry's medical needs.
The benefit will take place August 2 at Fireman's Hall in Hearne. Barbecue plates will be sold from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $7.
There will also be a two man team Horseshoe tournament starting at 2 p.m. It will cost $20 a team to register.
There will be an auction following the Horseshoe tournament and friends say auction items are still needed.
On Sunday, Jerry's friends are hosting a golf scramble. There will be a four man golf scramble at the Hearne Municipal Golf course, Sunday Aug. 3rd starting at 12 p.m. It's $20 a person and $80 a team.
