A Brazos County jury has found Patience Cooks guilty of murder.
The College Station woman was charged with the murder of her boyfriend Lorenzo Allen.
However, the jury came back with a surprising punishment: just 10 years of probation, meaning she won't have to serve a day in jail.
During Thursday's closing arguments, the defense emphasized their assertion that Cooks was acting in self defense when she stabbed Allen to death. They claim years of physical abuse and threats made Cooks fear for her life. Prosecutors say the attack took place because she was mad, not scared.
