The Bryan Lions Club Pro Rodeo kicked off Thursday night at the Brazos County Expo Center.

Friday, organizers took a break from the big show, to give back.

About 30 special needs kids and adults had the entire arena to themselves.

They got to sit in the saddle and take a ride on some ponies and horses, and even practice their lassoing skills.

This is the second year the Lions Club and Catalina Cow Girls have held the "Special Kids Rodeo."

Parents say it's a big hit.

"Therapeutic for all the kids, many of the kids probably have never been on a horse, or had the opportunity to come to the rodeo," said Michael Raulerson.

You can catch the rodeo Friday and Saturday night. Gates open at 6pm for the petting zoo and pony rides, and the rodeo starts at 8pm. Advanced Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for kids. At the door, kids tickets are $10 and adults are $12.

You can buy tickets ahead of time at Cavender's Boot City, Catalena Hatters, Producers Co-op, The Texas Store, Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge, The Eagle and First State Bank of Bedias.

Thank you Sammy Catalina and Catalina Cowgirls for hosting this event. My son had a blast roping and riding the horses. Thanks for putting this together. Hope to do this again next year.
